This week’s #MeetTISB features Ms. Tashina, from the PY department.
Born and raised in Coorg and Bangalore she completed her school years in Bishop Cotton Girls School, Bangalore and Bachelor of Economics from Roshini Nilaya, School of Social Work, Mangalore. She moved back to Bangalore in 2000.
She lives in Whitefield with her husband in a beautiful neighborhood called Laughing Waters. They both love to travel and experience different cultures and most of all food. Cooking and gardening are Ms. Tashina’s go-to hobbies and stress busters. She says she find it relaxing and deeply therapeutic.
We asked her about her journey in TISB:
This is my second stint at TISB. My journey so far spans a period of 15 years has been a memorable one. Dear colleagues have become wonderful friends along the way. I have seen curriculum and strategies change over the years with each leadership change that the Institution went through. Interacting with colleagues and leaders from different teaching backgrounds have made me a better educator. What sets TISB apart from other schools is the strong and deep academic background of the promotors of the institution has always focused on improving the curriculum and driving results and change. Change and transitions helps us educators unlearn and adapt with the rapidly evolving space of education!
What are some of the unique challenges that PY students face, and how do you address them?
After COVID 19, I did get to see a huge change in the mindset of my students. They were protected at home and were not exposed to so many things that took place all over the world. I shared and continue to reinforce a lot of my personal experiences with my students to help them cope and understand the magnitude of an epidemic and its aftermath. It’s a life experience that has changed all our lives.
We talk about how thankful we need to be for all the privileges and comforts we are blessed with today while people around the world struggle with securing basic needs that we take for granted!
